HOW TO "DO THE TRACKING" ON YOUR CAR

We saw this nifty device for sale on a well-known bargain basement sales site. For a meagre sum, you can do your own wheel alignment for the rest of your days! Simply:

  • Jack up the car and remove the wheels
  • Bolt the arms into place
  • Measure between the front and back of each arm
  • Loosen track rods.....
  • ......Much swearing, rounding of nuts, scraped knuckles and application of heat later.......
  • Adjust tracking
  • Re-measure
  • Re-adjust tracking
  • Re-measure
  • Tighten up track rods
  • Re-measure
  • Re-adjust because you moved the rods while tightening
  • Re-fit wheel
  • Test drive
  • Discover that although the wheels were indeed parallel, they are pointing just a little to the left and your car isn't driving straight and your tyres are wearing even faster!

OR

You book your car into an Absolute Alignment Approved Centre. In which case you simply:

  • Arrive at your booked time
  • Take advantage of the coffee machine in the warm reception area
  • Drive away with a car that you can be sure is safe, drives straight and gives you optimum tyre wear

It's a no-brainer isn't it? If you still need persuading remember that an AAA Centre will also:

  • Safety check your tyres
  • Safety check your suspension
  • Have your wheels pointing where they should with an accuracy your tape measure can only dream of
  • Check camber and caster as well as tracking
  • Offer to align the rear of the car, too

There's so much to go wrong on a modern car's suspension that you can't leave it to old-fashioned methods to do the job. Even the most experienced home mechanic is unlikely to have suitable equipment - unless of course they have one of Absolute Alignment's excellent wheel aligners in their garage!

Be wise - check out your local Absolute Alignment Approved Centre and give yourself peace of mind.
